Elder George P Curry, Sr.'s Obituary
Elder Curry was born in Chicago, Illinois to Mr. & Mrs. Wilvan Curry, now deceased. He graduated from Kankakee High School, Kankakee, Illinois. He attended Moody Bible Institute, Northwest College, ITT School of Business and Bates Technical College.
He met and married the love of his life, Fay Freeman of South Haven, Michigan on December 17, 1955. Of this union four children were born; Eugene, who passed shortly after birth, George Philip Jr., Renton WA; Donna Rachelle, Las Vegas, NV and Mary Louise, Tacoma WA.
Elder Curry was an Evangelist, Missionary who ministered in many states, but his passion was the Foreign field. He ministered in the Philippines, Haiti, Jamaica and London. He was a compassionate person who truly loves the Lord.
Elder Curry was a faithful and dedicated minister of the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ since 1973.
Besides being a minister, he worked for the Joliet Arsenal, Joliet, Illinois, gardener for the Oakland Naval Base, Fork lift operator at the Procurement center, Fort Lewis and a very meticulous painter for the Tacoma Housing Authority.
Elder Curry was the Youth President of the Federated Pentecostal Church, where he wrote their first manual.
He served his country in the United States Army.
He leaves to celebrate his home going, Fay Freeman,G. Philip Curry, Jr.,(Felecia) Donna Rachelle, Mary Louise,(Patrick Hill) his sister, Emma Estridge (Alfred), Indianapolis, Ind; Betty Lewis (Willie) Chicago, IL; Beatrice Myers (Johnny) Milwaukee, WI; and brother David Johnson (Carol) Tacoma; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grand children, many nieces, nephews and friends.
