George Allen VanArsdall's Obituary
George Allen VanArsdall went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2002. He passed away from complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. George was born and raised in the Lakeview area of what is now the City of Lakewood. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1984 and for much of his career was the superintendent of the Lakeview Branch Post Office. He was an active member of the Lakeview Congregational Church all his life. He met his beloved wife Frances Carol in Lakeview when they were only teenagers. They married in the Lakeview Congregational Church on ValentineÂ's Day, February 14, 1949 when he was 21 and she was 16. George was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Frances and their 4 children, Georgette Nunez (and Don) of Lakewood, Douglas Van Arsdall (and Colleen) of Lakewood, Barbara Tainter (and John) of University Place, and Karen Newton of Kelowna, Canada; and by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren with a 3rd expected next month; and his brother, Robert Van Arsdall of Lakewood. After his retirement George kept active playing Santa Claus at the Lakewood Mall during the Christmas season, serving as a lay pastor and treasurer of his church, and working as the president of the Board of Directors for Lakeview Light and Power Company. He was loved by everyone who was blessed to know him and will be dearly missed by all.Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, September 28, 2002 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel, with Graveside Services to follow. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Lakeview Congregational Church.
