Gene Taylor Walker's Obituary
Gene Taylor Walker was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on March 22, 1946 to Allen Holmes Walker and Margaret Lora Taylor. He was the youngest of five boys. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the United States Central States Mission. He graduated from Ricks College and from BYU with a bachelors degree in Accounting. He met Carolyn J. Hall while they both attended Ricks College. They were married in 1969, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2019.
Gene & Carolyn spent most of their married life in St. Charles, Missouri after moving there for work. He enjoyed his work, serving in church, and spending time with his family. Gene was a wonderful father who helped with homework, attended little league games and dance/music recitals where he could. He was self-employed for several years and he enjoyed visiting with his clients each tax season. He did not have a lot of hobbies outside of church and work, but was good at and enjoyed cooking and doing yard work on his downtime. He also enjoyed reading, watching movies and sports, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He was a great family member, friend and mentor to many.
Gene and Carolyn moved to Tacoma, Washington in 2017 to be closer to family and spend quality time with their two grandchildren. He was a very devoted husband, and did everything he possibly could to care for his wife in their final years together. He passed away after a battle with kidney failure and dementia on Thursday, December 17, 2020, just a short two months after his beloved wife, Carolyn.
Gene is survived by their son Jeremy Walker and his wife Chantal; their daughter Erin Walker-Schroeder, her husband Douglas and their children Joshua and Julian; his brother Perrin Walker, his wife Charlotte and their family; his brother Kay Walker, his wife Angela, and their family; the families of his two brothers who have passed, Lynn and Dahl; and many, many other family and friends. He is very loved and will be missed by many.
Graveside services for family will be held on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, Washington. A virtual memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced in January or February 2021.
