Gene L. Eaton's Obituary
GENE (JEAN) EATON 3/23/19 ~ 4/29/08 "Growing old is not for sissies ,"...and Gene was anything but that! She had a vibrant, energetic zest for life and good sense of humor that kept her going till the end. Even in her final days, her feet were "dancing" under the sheets to the upbeat Kingdom Melodies, never missing a beat, or missing out on anything going on around her. Our hearts are filled with deep sorrow as our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and dear friend passed away peacefully 4/29/08, surrounded by family and friends. The way she felt about her family is best described in her own words on their (Paul) 50th anniversary, "Our world revolves around our four sons and their families and the activities of doing things together." And together they were for 65 years until sadly, Paul, passed away. Together, they raised 4 rambunctious boys. Mom certainly put up with a lot in the way of broken windows, stray arrows, basement rifle ranges (unknowingly)Eand numerous pets. There was no question, Mom would do anything for her boys! Gene was a woman of many talents. Early on she had a love for dancing and became a tap instructor at Harter Dance Studio where she met Paul and later married on 6/19/36. She also enjoyed her career as a real estate agent for Wheeler Realty for over 30 years. Probably what she's best known for is pulling her camera out of her purse and discreetly snapping a photo that inevitably would become a treasured keepsake. As an avid photographer, she had a way of "seeing" the beauty and uniqueness of things, whether she was focused on a single rose, family member, T.V. image or "chasing sunsets" and clouds, she would get caught up in the moment and drop everything to capture a unique image. We are forever grateful to her for keeping our memories alive through treasured family photos. The most precious relationship she had was with her God Jehovah whom she dedicated her life to in 1952 and was a faithful member of the Pt. Defiance Congregation. Teaching others, including her sons, the Bible-based hope for the future, brought her much joy. And now we can be rest assured that Gene is in the safest possible place, Jehovah's memory, and soon we'll be able to welcome her back to a paradise earth in all her youthful vigor! She strongly believed in the earthly resurrection hope (Jo. 5:28,29) and nothing would please her more than to know her family and friends gathered to remember her. Gene is survived by her 4 sons, Marshall (Margaret), Ross (Denyce), Calvin (Leslie), Tim (Nancy), 2 sisters, Connie and Susie, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 4 nieces, 5 nephews and a large spiritual family. A memorial will be held at the Fircrest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 101 Holly Court, on Monday the 5th at 7pm. MOM, YOU WILL BE DEARLY MISSED.
