Gene E. Newmiller's Obituary
Gene Ellis Newmiller Gene "Geno" Newmiller, 81, passed away September 17, 2008 after an extended illness. Born in Miles City, MT on December 27, 1926 to Jacob Newmiller and Mayme Wynes, Geno graduated from Stadium HS in 1944. Geno served as Carpenter Shop Foreman for DSHS at Western State Hospital, retiring in 1989 after 24 years. He also owned a locksmithing business (which was a favorite hobby). Geno was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1959, Life Member Steilacoom Lodge No. 2, Lakewood Court Order of Amaranth, Lewis Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and Tacoma Elks Lodge. Geno was a great builder/fixer, and enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing, shooting pool, and his grandchildren. Geno never said an unkind word or hesitated to grant a favor; generous of spirit and deed. This loving and gentle man will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Jean (Jeanne) Neuhauser, daughters Rena Hect, Renton (Brad), granddaughters Shannon and Schyler; Ronda Looney (Bill) Edgewood and grandchildren Daniel, Katriel, Benjamin and Jonathan; sister Penny Anderson (Bob) Kent, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Mountain View Celebration of Life Center, Aspen Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, SW on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 3 PM. Remembrances may be made to Franciscan Hospice, PO Box 1502 Tacoma 98401.
