Gary Waage's Obituary
Gary Waage, 72, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2013 in Tacoma, Washington. He was born March 15, 1941 in Vallisca, Iowa to Fay Gene Waage and Dorothy May (Lane) Waage. Gary was raised and attended school in Fremont, Nebraska before joining the U.S. Navy. He returned home after serving his country and worked for Magnus Metal in Fremont before moving to the Pacific Northwest, where he worked many years for Kaiser Aluminum. Gary then started a long career driving truck. He drove logging trucks, then drove for Post Trucking Company followed by Gordon Trucking and Walrath Trucking, where he finally retired. Gary compiled an outstanding record for accident-free driving with well over two million miles on the road.
Forty-five years ago, Gary married Mary Sherman and they raised their family at their home in Tacoma. He is survived by his wife, Mary Waage, twin sons, Bryan and Kirk Waage, daughter Crystal Waage Wetzler, four brothers, Richard, Jim, Luke, and Gene Waage, all of Fremont, Nebraska; his sister Nancy Tamblyn of Selah, Washington, and six grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Heather, Brent, Amber, and Angie. Gary was predeceased by his parents and a brother.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Parkway Presbyterian Church, 714 138th Street East, Tacoma, beginning at 4:00 PM.
