Gary Ayler's Obituary
We remember and celebrate the life of Gary Ayler, whose gentle presence and warm smile brought light to those around him. Gary lived a simple, meaningful life as a beloved member of his community, where his kindness and quiet joy touched many hearts.
Born on March 30, 1947, in Tacoma, Washington, Gary spent most of his life in a supportive residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities, where he loved his staff and roommates very much. Though his ability to communicate was limited and he was never able to work in a traditional sense, Gary’s life was rich in connection, affection, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness.
Gary was known for his friendly nature and his love of familiar routines. He found joy in watching Seattle Mariners games, participating in bowling outings, and being part of community dances. These activities, though modest, were meaningful expressions of his spirit and the relationships he cherished.
He leaves behind his brother Sean Taylor, his sister Sherry Warner, and his aunt and uncle Harriett and Dennis Dunlap. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Solberg, and his brother, Bob Ayler.
Gary passed away on October 16, 2025, in Port Orchard, Washington. His life reminds us that joy can be found in simplicity and that each one of us has the power to bring love and light into the world. Those who knew Gary will remember him in the quiet, familiar moments that brought him happiness and connection.
