Garold "Gary" James Johnson's Obituary
Garold “Gary” James Johnson was born January 20, 1947 in Superior, Wisconsin to Audrey Morraine Cummings and James “Jim” Johnson. He passed away at his home in Puyallup, Washington on January 20, 2024. Gary was named after his uncle, Garold Cummings, who served and died in WWII. Gary and his sister, Patricia Knapp (Johnson), moved to Tacoma, WA with their parents when they were young. Gary later married and had 3 children, Gregg, Rhonda, and Angie. He built a home for his family in Puyallup, WA and worked as a telecommunications technician at Qwest Communications International, Inc. He made life long friendships with his co-workers, John Barbour and Fukuyama. Gary was a conversationalist and made friends wherever he went. He loved the outdoors including fishing, hunting, camping, and meeting nature’s critters. Above all, being a father and grandfather was what he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his son Greggory “Gregg” Garold Johnson.
He is survived by his sister Patricia Knapp; daughters Rhonda Johnson and Angelina Johnson; grandchildren Amy Johnson, Emilee Johnson, Amanda Burnett, Kasey Link, and Tristin Johnson; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held on June 28, 2024 at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA at 3:00 pm in the Garden Chapel.
