Galen Hasten Richardson's Obituary
Galen H. Richardson, 62, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Madigan Hospital, Fort Lewis, Wash. Galen was born Nov. 1, 1953 in Rochelle to Raymond and Mildred (Catron) Richardson. He proudly served in the United States Army, retiring in 1992 after 20 years. Galen married Kyong H. Cho on Jan. 22, 1979. They lived in the state of Washington their entire marriage because Galen loved hunting and salmon fishing in Washington.
Galen was a loving husband and father who enjoyed making memories with his grandchildren.
Galen was deeply loved and survived by his wife, Kyong (Joy) Richardson; children, Allen Richardson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jaime (William) Sexton of Lakewood, Jennifer (Ben) Kim of Ponce, Puerto Rico, and Aaron Richardson of Lakewood; and grandchildren, Raymond Richardson, Abby Kim, Bryan Kim, Noah Richardson, Jayce Richardson and William Sexton.
Galen is also survived by his brother, Raymond (Marcia) Richardson; sister, Karry (Michael) Pullin; nephew, Michael Richardson; nieces, Vanessa Stroh, Melisa Richardson, Michelle Guzzardo, Angela Smardo and Cristel Spartz; and aunts, Georgia (Bill) Richardson, Doris (Catron) Malone, Ethel (Bob) Richardson and Naomi Richardson; and many other cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Galen also worked for the Washington State Department of Corrections for 18 years, forming many friendships and hunting and fishing buddies.
Galen was previously deceased by his father, Raymond Richardson; mother, Mildred (Catron) Richardson; brother, Jimmy Richardson; and grandparents, Delbert and Lee Richardson and William and Caroline Catron.
Galen was a former member of the Baptist Church of Rochelle and VFW in Lakewood, Wash.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Wash., officiated by Chaplain John Konugres.
