Gabriel R. Colon-MercedGabriel Colon-Merced, was born March 22, 1928 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He passed away March 3, 2003. He retired after 27 years in the US Army. During the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he earned several commendations and awards. After his military service, he worked for the State of Washington Employment Security Department, retiring in 1993He was a member of AMVETS and the American Legion, loved watching sports, especially baseball, but most of all loved spending time with his family.Survivors include his wife Olga, children; Zaida Hennigar (Bruce), Evelyn Rodriguez (Ruddy), Ivelyth Kesti, Rafael Colon (Mary Beth), Miguel Colon (Linda), Edgar Colon, eight grandchildren; Damen, Bruce, David, Joel, Edward, Brandon, Daniel, and Elizabeth, one great-grandson; Bruce, step mother; Isabel Vasquez, two brothers Hector, Miguel, one sister; Maribel, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday March 7, 2003 in the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Viewing will be Wednesday 1-9pm and Thursday 11am-9pm.
