Fumiko Factory
Age 84, of Tacoma, WA died Tuesday, March 26th, 2013, peacefully in her home after an extensive illness. She was born to the late Tomezo and Fugi Sumi on August 1st, 1928, in Gifu, Japan. She married the late William M. Factory October 5th, 1951, in Japan, moving to Tacoma, WA shortly after.
Fumiko was an extraordinary homemaker and most enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. Her greatest joy was taking care of others, consistently putting her family and friends before herself.
Fumiko was an active member of Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist organization based on the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin.
Fumiko is survived by three children, Doris Jackson, Darnell Factory Sr. and William “Mike” Factory, four grandchildren, Carl, Michael, Darnell Jr. and Devinne , seven great grandchildren, a sister, Miyako Takagi and a brother, Takeo Sumi. Brother, Masao Sumi and sister, Suzuko Sumi preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Celebration of Life Center Aspen Chapel in Lakewood, WA with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Franciscan Hospice.
