Friederika Brecek's Obituary
Friederika (Frieda) Brecek, 95, passed away peacefully and in the comfort of her daughter, Nadine, on Thursday evening, December 19, 2019. Born in Austria on February 3, 1924, Frieda survived a life of many challenges and hardships with great strength, determination, and an incredible will to move forward. As our matriarch, she instilled a legacy to be strong, forgiving, independent, enjoy life and the importance of family.
Frieda first became a children’s nurse in Austria and later in Canada. Moving to the United States with her husband and five children, she worked for many years at St. Joseph Hospital. After raising her children, she traveled extensively and adored helping to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frieda was a loving woman, fantastic cook, big personality, energetic and hardworking. Walking was a true passion and she walked two hours a day until 93 years of age.
Survivors include her daughters, Brigitta Dahline of Vermont, Darlene Hale of Tacoma, Nadine Holland of Puyallup, and her son, Roland Brecek of California; daughter-in-law(s) Penny Brecek of California and Barbara Brecek of Spokane, her many loved grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Also included are Frieda’s three brothers, Johann (Hannes), Wilhelm (Willie), and Gottfried Reisenhofer and their families in Austria.
