Frederick F. Greer
Lifetime Tacoma resident Fred Greer passed away peacefully in Everett, WA on October 31, 2009 with family by his side. Fred was born in Tacoma on January 1, 1912. Fred proudly served in the US Army during WWII and after an honorable discharge worked at the American Smelting & Refining Co. (ASARCO) in Ruston, WA. Retiring as a Furnace Foreman in 1971. Fred will be remembered by many in the Ruston area as he was a frequent patron of many of the local establishments as well as a member of the Narrows VFW for many years. Fred will also be remembered as a man with a huge heart, who worked hard, and was never afraid to lend a hand. Fred was a wonderful story teller who lived nearly a century, he will be greatly missed. Fred leaves behind daughters: Anne Greer, Carole Anne Dietz, Carla Stewart (Gaylon), Caren Purbaugh (Jon), 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who loved him dearly. Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Greer, July 25, 2009. Service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
