Frederick Allen Curfman's Obituary
Frederick Allen Curfman Known to all as Freddy, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2017, after a stroke at the age of 57. Freddy was a beautiful soul who burned brightly and was extinquished too soon. Freddy was born at the Presidio in San Francisco, CA, to Fred C. and Donarose Curfman on November 8, 1959. His early years were spent in Heidelberg, Germany, and then the family moved back to Tacoma, WA, and later to Puyallup, WA. Freddy was a gifted drummer and his passion for music was evident in his life. At the age of 14, he was performing with his parent as The Curfman Combo. Later he performed as Freddy Allen in bands including the Nyanza Band, the Tim Hall Band, Tatoosh, and the Magic Carpet Ride. During this time his bandmembers nicknamed him the "Freight Train". Freddy brought his style to everything he did. He loved to collect vinyl, work on cars, cook, bake extraordinary amounts of Christmas cookies. He enjoyed antiquing and yard sales. He also took great pride in completing his High School Diploma at Bates Technical School, Tacoma, WA. Being a father and husband was paramount in Freddy's life. He leaves behind his wife, Janet Curfman, sons, Sean (Tiffany) Curfman and Tim (fiance Amanda) Anderson and daughter, Kathy Anderson, father Fred (Sally) Curfman, his sisters Karen Lambert, Lynda (Steve) Duncan, Loni (Monte) Hooper and Faitha (Bob) Bennett, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. His mother, Donarose Curfman and son, Tim Burton preceded him in death. Freddy was a gentle and loving man who will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. Please join us in a celebration of his life to be held on Saturday, March 4th at 3:00 pm in the Valley Chapel at Mt. View Funeral Home - 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
