Fred G. Wahlgren Jr.'s Obituary
After a short battle with cancer, Fred G. Wahlgren, Jr., went home to be with his Savior on September 15th, 2023, at the age of seventy-seven. Fred’s family takes solace in knowing that he has reunited with his beloved wife Roselyne, who passed away of cancer in March.
Fred was born August 31, 1946, to Fred Sr. and Frances Wahlgren in Tacoma, WA. He graduated from Stadium High School in 1964 and later married his high school sweetheart, Roselyne Marston, in 1969. They were blessed with two children, Fred III, and Jennifer.
Fred attended Washington State University and the University of Puget Sound, where he received his teaching degree. He went on to teach elementary school in Tacoma for the next thirty years. While an educator, Fred could hardly go out in public without one of his current or former students running up to him and telling him that he was their favorite teacher ever. Fred had an incredible way with kids, as his warm demeanor and delightful sense of humor won over the hearts of all his students.
Exceptionally hard working, Fred strove for excellence in all he did. Blessed with many talents, there was truly little he could not do if he set his mind to it. Fred was humble, kind, and impeccably honest. Selfless to fault, he regularly made great personal sacrifices to address the needs of others, but especially for his wife during her prolonged battle with cancer. He was the absolute best son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend anyone could ask for. Words are inadequate to describe what a wonderful human he was, and how sorely he will be missed. Earth’s loss is truly heaven’s gain.
Fred G. Wahlgren Jr. is predeceased by his parents and wife Roselyne. He is survived by his sister Julie and brother Dave; his two children Fred III and Jennifer; and his five grandchildren Fred IV, Ethan, Ryan, Lauren, and Luke.
At Fred’s request there will only be a small service for immediate family members and close friends. The service will be held on Monday, October 9th at 11:00AM in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to any cancer charity searching for a cure, treatment, screening, and education.
