Frank X. Surma Jr.'s Obituary
Frank X. Surma Jr. was born June 6, 1924 in Mount Pleasant, PA and passed away January 10, 2014 at the age of 89.
Frank was a self-employed farmer in Perkiomenville, PA prior to entering military service. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1974 as a Master Sergeant proudly serving 26 years with four years of inactive service. Frank was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War flying into six out of seven continents accumulating over 17,000 flying hours in his career.
Frank was an only child. While in Japan, after serving 2-1/2 years in the service, his mother was killed by a speeding car while walking across the street only two miles from her home
Frank’s first marriage of 49 years was to Alicia Casanova of San Antonio, Texas. They raised three children. Surviving are his daughter Vivian Kruse (Ronald), a daughter Patricia Marsh (Jim) and a son Mark (Donna Parker).
Frank has a step-sister Mary Ann Quillin in Lansdale, PA, and a step-brother Larry Surma living in Red Hill, PA
Frank has 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In 2008, Frank married Jewel Jones of Puyallup, WA.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Thursday, January 16, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Garden Chapel.
