Frank DeWitt Strickland's Obituary
Frank, son of John Eugene & Frances LaRue Strickland was born on March 12, 1937 in Dexter, MO and passed away on Nov. 11, 2014.
Married to Judith Anne Angle on June 22, 1957. Service in the U.S. Army brought Frank to WA in 1959. Frank was a long time resident of Puyallup, and his love of the hunting and fishing across this state, Canada and Alaska kept his passion alive for years.
Frank was honored with Eagle Scout 1953, and as a member, Frank served as President of Tacoma Sportsmen’s Club and Washington Game Protectors and served on the Pierce County Shorelines Management Commission. He was honored with Pierce County Sportsman of the Year 1986, TSC Sportsman of the Year, 1989, TSC Chairman of the Year 1994 and many other awards. He was an NRA Firearms Training Counselor and Instructor and enjoyed working with Scouts and other young people learning to shoot. He also enjoyed flying and was a private pilot. Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy, son Marcus (Cindy) of Mill Creek and daughter Francine Sommers of Cleveland, Ohio; also the delight of his later years grandchildren Shane, Cassidy and Jillian and by one brother, Paul and (Jo) Strickland of Lakeland, FL and brother-in-law John R,. Angle (Teresa) of Jonesboro, AR and a great many friends made through the years of flying, hunting, fishing and trap & skeet shooting.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Tacoma Sportsman Club located at 16409 Canyon Rd. E., Puyallup, WA 98375 on Saturday November 29, 2014 at 1:00pm.
