Frank McNeil's Obituary
Frank McNeil, 89, of Gig Harbor passed away on Monday May 6th,
2019.
Frank was born May 6th, 1930 in ParkFerry, South Carolina to
Melvin and Annie McNeil. At the age of 6 Frank went to live with Ms. Anna Bennett, and was raised with brothers Julius and George Bennett.
Frank graduated from Bonds Wilson High School in 1948 in Charleston
SC. After graduation Frank enlisted in the US Army.
His career in the Army took him to Japan, Korea, Wisconsin,
New Mexico, California, Germany, Vietnam and finally to Tacoma Washington. While serving in the Military, Frank earned the U.S. Army Combat Infantryman Badge as well as the Army Commendation Medal for sustained acts of heroism and meritorious achievement.
While stationed at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, WA Frank retired from
the Army in 1968 as an E7 Sergeant 1st Class
On December 17, 1952, Frank married the love of his life, Wilhelmina
(Chicken), in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
They were blessed with 5 children: Rodney, Marquis, Anton,
Robin and Carlos McNeil.
Frank went on to a career at Atlas Foundry and Machine Company,
retiring after 25 years on June 16th, 1992. Frank spent his retirement years with his beloved wife, Chicken. He enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his children; Rodney, Marquis, Tony, Robin,
Carlos and Clarissa. His brother Julius Bennett and sister Bessie Oliver. Eight grandchildren; Tia, Erica, Marquis Jr, Heather, Terrence, Michael, Bria and Robert. Daughter in-laws; Nancy, Sandi and Kenda McNeil.
Service to celebrate Frank's life will be held on May 30th
at 12:30pm at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Patriot Guard Riders will escort Sergeant 1st Class Frank McNeil
to his final resting place.
