Frank H Owens' Obituary
Frank passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 10, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Frank was born February 6, 1925 in Paris Illinois to Moke and Bertha Marie Owens. Frank graduated from Paris High School and Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.Frank began his U.S. Army career in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea, World War II. He served two tours of duty in both Germany and Korea. Frank served as an advisor to the Korean Army KMAAG (ROC). His last tour in Germany was accompanied by family. In a distinguished military career, Frank received numerous commendations and medals. After retirement from the military, Frank began his career as a civilian with Pacific National Bank of Washington, starting as an adjustor and rising to the rank of Bank Officer. While working in the bank he was involved in many civic organizations such as Junior Achievement, Mary Bridge ChildrenÂ's Hospital and the 4 CÂ's, the forerunner of Pierce College Early Childhood Center. Frank was a firm believer in education. His last employment was with the University of Puget Sound. Frank often reflected on his years of staff work at the UPS Library where he enjoyed watching the growth of young adults in their educational pursuits.Frank was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Mokie. Survivors include a sister Julie McKinney of Ayers, MA, wife MaryAnne (caregiver), son, Darryl, daughter, Debra. His love ones include niece, Carole Grady of Conn., nephew, William Grady of Mass., four great nieces of Conn. and special cousins, Linda Owens of Minn., and Stephen Owens of Ind.We would like to thank the Lakewood Fire Department for their professionalism and compassion. To Dr. Kathleen Davis of Madigan Army Hospital, our sincere thanks for her eight years of dedication as his primary physician.A private graveside service with full Military Honors will be held.
