Frances Joyce Spray's Obituary
Frances Joyce Spray of Tacoma, WA passed away on July 13, 2016, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Joyce was born November 8, 1932 in Tacoma to Frances and Frank Lombardo. She attended Lincoln High School where she was on the Marcetta-Ki Drill Team. She met the love of her life, Fred, on a blind date, and they enjoyed 65 years of married bliss. She enjoyed lunches with her Stadium girls for 50 years, as well as her Red Hat and Vintage Car Clubs and family trips. She loved to read.
Our wonderful wife and mother and her quick wit will be missed by her husband Fred “Sonny” Spray, her children: Lindy (David), Gary (Janny) and Stacy, grandchildren Carrie (Sean), Stephanie, Allison, Michael, Daniel, Joseph, great grandsons Alexander and Aiden, and sisters Sally (Nat), Toni (predeceased) and Diana.
We would like to give a special thank you to caregivers Ki Ki, Sera and Nurse Carrie for their exceptional help in caring for our mom in her final months. Also, to Lindy for staying months at a time to take care of Mom, and to Stacy for coming home to help when she could. Gary would relieve the girls when they needed to go home, and visited almost every day. We loved our mom dearly and wanted to do everything we could to keep her at home. Mom’s social worker once asked her if she felt guilty about having her kids taking care of her. True to form, Mom responded, “Not until you just mentioned it!” We assured her that we would not have had it any other way.
