Frances Marion Dennett's Obituary
Frances Marion (Winter) Dennett was born November 26, 1925 in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of George and Marion Winter and sister of Gerry Winter. She passed away at home on February 16, 2008 of complications from Parkinson's disease. Fran grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. Fran married her high school sweetheart George (Petropulos) Dennett on October 19, 1946 and moved to Browns Point in 1949 where she was actively involved in the community. Her activities included the Madrona Garden Club, Browns Point Improvement Club and Salmon Bake. Fran and George were active members of St. Matthews Episcopal Church at Browns Point and she was a member and one time president of St. Martha's Altar Guild. Fran was a charter member of Hyada Park Orthopedic Guild (TOA). She served on Lincoln High School graduate committees. Fran retired from Tacoma Public School District as Dash Point School secretary and received the Golden Acorn Award for her volunteer work. Upon retirement she volunteered her time at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. Fran was preceded in death by her parents George and Marion Winter, brother Gerry Winter and children Janis and Steven George. She is survived by George, her husband of 61 years and her children Gus Petropulos, Steven Dennett and his wife Joi. Her family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate, selfless care and devotion she received all these years to the end from her loving husband George. Fran was a friend to all. Remembrances may be sent to St. Matthews Episcopal Church Brown Point, 6800 Eastside Drive NE, Tacoma, WA 98422. At her request there will be no services.
