Floyd J. Boers' Obituary
Floyd Joseph Boers was born to Frank Joseph and Hazel Lavina Boers on September 12, 1923; he passed away peacefully at his home in Puyallup, Washington at the age of 91, January 23, 2015. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Doris Mae (Noble) Boers, and their four children, Gregory Joseph Boers (Cherie), Geoffrey Paul Boers (Amy), Kevin Drew Boers (Janet), and Lisa Dawn Boers-Gein (Gilles); 11 grandchildren: Rachel, Emilie, Alek, Kyle, Kelsey, Ian, Luc, Megan, Jakob, Jacques and Aidan. He was preceded in death by his daughter Camille Annette Boers and his four siblings Evelyn, Frank, Dorothy and Jack.
He was beloved by his family, nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends as being a kind, engaged, caring and loving presence to all he knew. Even neighborhood children would flock to “Uncle Floyd’s” house for a cookie and a visit. Floyd had a wonderful sense of humor even in his last days.
A lifelong resident of Tacoma, Floyd was an avid artist, working in painting, pen and ink and sculpture; he designed, carved and painted a large totem pole. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He served in the Army Air Corps as a corporal during WWII. He was stationed in Guam, where he worked as a radio operator. He later worked for Washington Steele and then as a hardware sales representative for Washington Hardware. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #174 for nearly five decades where he especially enjoyed keeping fit in the pool. Floyd was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Parkland.
Floyd had a good and long life; he will be remembered with love and joy.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 12115 Park Ave. So., Parkland, WA 98444, on Monday, February 16, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the church. The family has requested any memorial gifts be given to the Music Endowment Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church.
