Florence Rosalie Hosack's Obituary
Florence  RosalieÂ' HosackRosalie Hosack of Kirkland, formerly of Tacoma, died August 26, 2003, at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland. She was 88.Mrs. Hosack was born Florence Rosalie Taylor on November 5, 1914 in Chanute, Kansas. She grew up in Chanute and graduated from Park College in Kansas with a degree in Home Economics. On June 24, 1938 she married Loren Stanton, also of Chanute. Mr. Stanton was killed while serving as a chaplain during World War II. On August 7, 1951, she married Delbert Hosack of Tacoma. Mr. Hosack was also originally from Chanute. The couple settled in Tacoma where they raised two children. Mrs. Hosack enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and she was a longtime member of the Tacoma Astronomical Society. She served in many capacities in TAS, and received several awards for contributions to the club. She enjoyed learning about all branches of science, as evidenced by the many books she read, and particularly loved to encourage young people who are interested in astronomy. Mrs. Hosack was predeceased by her husband, Delbert, and her stepdaughter, Mary Jo Hosack of Portland, Oregon. Survivors include her sons, John Hosack of Los Angeles and Jim Hossack of Duvall, Washington; stepson Bill Hosack of Coos Bay, Oregon; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 6th at the Mountain View Garden Chapel. 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, in Tacoma.
