Florence Heisig's Obituary
Florence A. Heisig
November 25, 1915 -" August 8, 2012
Flossie completed a long and eventful life's journey in Lacey, WA. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hervey G. and May Clark. The family moved to Tacoma in1916. She became a career secretary after graduating from Lincoln High School, at Western State Hospital and the Tacoma schools. She concluded her career at the Alaska Disaster Office in Anchorage. In 1940, she married Fred W. Heisig, the love of her life. Fred's work took her to Alaska. The Alaska years brought her great joy -" the company of lifelong friends, camping, fishing, participation in local festivals and community events in which her flair for the dramatic flourished. She was an avid reader of fiction. Agatha Christie and other authors of the mystery genre were her particular favorites. They moved back to Tacoma following her retirement. Eventually they moved to Lacey where they remained until their deaths. Fred and Flossie were married until Fred's death in 2001. She was dynamic, funny and a gifted thespian. Flossie is survived by daughters Pat Hill (husband Bill) and Terry Nooyen-Coyner (husband Michael); and treasured nieces and nephews. The family acknowledges with thanks caregiver David Ptolemy, her beloved friend, and the other caregivers who, in the last years of her life, made life more bearable. A celebration will be held in the Willow Room, Celebration of Life Building, Mountain View Funeral Home (tel. 253-584-0252) on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Please sign her online guest book at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
