Federico Recardo, Jr.'s Obituary
Frederico Ruiz Recardo Jr received his wings and was called to heaven on June 17, 2016. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched throughout his memorable life. He was born to Frederico and Carmelita Recardo in 1946. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his beloved brothers, Eduardo and Romeo Recardo and nephew Curtis Pulley. His legacy lives on through his beautiful wife, Claire Recardo; brother, Roberto (Linda) Recardo; sister, Elisa (Tom) Pulley; children, Tessie (Stephan) Weier, Freddie Recardo III, Tige Richardson, Tracey (Ray) Gray, Paul Recardo, Rico Recardo, Marty Recardo and Demitra (Lenard) Brooks; 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandkids.
Freddie was a jack of all trades in his lifetime such as dedicating 33 years working for the United States Postal Service. However, his most notable profession was his distinguished 4 ½ years of service in the United States Marine Corp which included a tour through Vietnam. Once a Marine, always a Marine. He lived that motto by dedicating countless hours at the veteran’s home to ensure that his fellow veterans were properly taken care of.
Freddie’s life could be compared to a novel. Every day was a new page, every year a new chapter. There was never a page where his family and closest friends weren’t present. Much like the best novels written, there were times of joy mixed with moments of sorrow. Freddie’s novel is now coming towards its conclusion; the final page of the final chapter. As we near these final moments, we should remember Freddie and his story.
Family always came first for Freddie. His brothers and sister would get themselves in trouble and Freddie, always reliable, would take the blame for them. Regardless if it was a kitchen fire or coming home late, he would tell his parents that it was his idea or fault. He never put himself in front of his siblings. At times, he was unsure if he could make it to momentous events, such as graduations. Despite these setbacks, he always found a way to be there. Both his children and his grandchildren loved his carefree, playful personality. He would spit water though his teeth and other times, he’d put his thumb to his nose and say “Sucker”. Always the comedian.
Freddie had the ability to brighten up anyone’s day. No matter what type of situation you were experiencing, he always had the wisdom and words that made you feel that you could tackle any of life’s obstacles. Even when you felt low and that there was nothing to be done, Freddie would be there to show you that you’d prevail over the odds.
We could continue to write about Freddie and his life, but to do so we would go on forever. He would tell you to talk to his family and friends. Each one of you has played a special part in the chapters of his life and this is your time to share his story with one another. Freddie, God has given you an invitation to heaven and you have accepted it. We’ve reached your final page and your life was a glorious story we’ll never forget. You will be missed, “More Than Anything”. MTA…………………
