Faye Denise Snead
November 11, 1959 – September 15, 2016
Faye Denise Snead was born on November 11, 1959 in Northhampton VA to Gustava (Davis) Pettit and the late Charles Pettit Sr. Faye was the first of six children.
In her years of life, Faye attended the schools of Accomack County where she earned her High School Diploma from Anancock High School. Faye went on to be employed by Perdue Farms in Accomac VA and worked there until relocating to Tacoma WA in 1991. In Tacoma she began her career as Secretary at Peace Lutheran Church and then as a Nutrition Specialist for the Tacoma Public Schools. Faye was also a caregiver for Catholic Community Services for over twenty years.
Faye was a member of St Luke A.M.E. Church in Daughtery VA before relocating to Tacoma WA where she became a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Faye was a loving Mother, Christian and a person who was willing to help anyone.
Faye loved cooking, shopping and being with her family. She loved listening to R&B and Gospel music where “No Charge” by Shirley Cesar was her favorite.
Faye leaves to survive her beloved mother Gustava Pettit of Accomac VA, her loving daughters Markeva Snead of Tacoma, Tremeka of Seattle and her son Adrian of Tacoma and is survived by her thirteen cherished grandchildren.
Caring sister of her brothers Charles Pettit Jr. of Horntown VA, Johnathan Pettit of Hallwood VA, Charles Pettit of Rehobeth DE, her sisters Alison James of Newport News VA, Valerie Brown of Accomac VA and Dorothea Dickerson of Accomac VA. Also survived by her son-in-law La’Quan Bailey, brother-in-law Lenwood Dickerson Jr. and sister-in-law Gerrina Pettit. She is also survived by her uncles Rev. Clarence Pettit of Wilmington DE, George West of Accomac VA, Erwin West of Horntown VA and her aunts Helen Pettit of Wilmington DE, Elaine Pettit of Tasley VA, Gladys Needam of Parksley VA and Rosa Needam of Newport News VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special friend to her adopted uncle Fulton White and special friend to Rosie Smith, Sandra Matthews and Twiggy Harmon.
Special thanks to Tacoma General Hospital doctors and staff, Tacoma Public Schools as well as staff at Catholic Community Services and Peace Lutheran Church.
Services for Faye will be held on Sunday September 25, 2016 at 1:00/PM at Peace Lutheran Church 2106 South Cushman Ave. Tacoma WA 98405. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood WA. Visitation will be held Saturday September 24, 2016 from 3:00/PM to 8:00/PM at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW Lakewood WA. Family and friends kindly invited.
