Faatauo Maiava's Obituary
Sister Faatauo Maiava, 67, of Lakewood, Washington, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood. Born on April 4, 1958, in Fiti'uta, Manu'a, American Samoa, she was the eighth of twelve children born to Apisaloma Afulauata Lifa and Soligasaito Logona Maiava Moaaliitele.
Faatauo was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and aunt whose gentle spirit and joyful heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her life was rich with love, laughter, and creativity.
She had a passion for music—singing with heartfelt joy and strumming her guitar with a rhythm all her own. She also found great delight in coloring, filling the pages of her books with vivid colors that reflected her bright and happy personality.
Faatauo especially cherished time spent with her nieces and nephews. She adored playing ball with them. Her playful nature and loving presence made her a treasured part of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest brother, Apisaloma Maiava. She is survived by her six sisters—Tamara, Faatauave, Fesuluai, Taumasina, Matasaua, and Nerisa; and four brothers—Aimalefoa, Aniva, Apisaloma, and Aimalefoa; and her son, Daniel.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home, in the Aspen Chapel, Lakewood, Washington.
Faatauo’s life was a beautiful reminder that joy can be found in the simplest of things, and that love—freely given and warmly received—is the greatest legacy of all.
