Evelyn Perrino's Obituary
Evelyn Mae (Juley) Perrino was born on December 15, 1927 in Tacoma Washington to Leonard & Verna Juley. She attended Gray Junior High School and Lincoln High School, where she graduated in 1945.
She married James W. Cox in 1948. She had her first son, James W. Cox, Jr. on August 20, 1949., one month after her first husband, James, passed away. She worked at Madigan Hospital in Fort Lewis.
Here are a few of the details of Evelyn’s life:
• Determined to buy her own house, something single mothers didn’t do in the 1950’s, and undaunted by what everyone told her couldn’t be done, she did it!
• While working at Madigan, she met a soldier named, John C. Perrino. John finally asked her out for a date. Several months later, they were married.
• John was transferred to Germany. Evelyn and Jim joined him later and they had their two children, Antonia Perrino (April 6, 1958) and Joseph Perrino (October 12, 1959) while there.
• John was transferred back to Fort Lewis, WA, and the family moved to Tacoma where John and Evelyn lived out the rest of their lives. They began their own medical transcription business which grew until John’s death.
• John passed away on December 27, 1976. She missed him tremendously, even at the end of her own life.
• Evelyn had worked at Madigan Hospital, her own business and then at the Tacoma Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic, from where she retired.
• She passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2013 at about 8:30 am, knowing that she was loved and that we would see her again.
In addition to her two husbands, she was also preceded in death by her Mother, Verna Wilhelm, father, Leonard Juley, sister Lorraine Richmond, and brother, Roy Burnsides.
She is survived by her sister Juanita Demas, sister-in-law Mary Burnsides, son and daughter-in-law, Jim Cox & Toni Ray, daughter and son-in-law, Toni & Doug Hinkle, and son, Joe Perrino. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy Hinkle, Chris & April Hinkle, Jeff & Emily Hinkle, and Chandra & Jason Hayes. In addition, she is survived by her great-grandchildren: Andrew Hinkle, Carol Hinkle, Nathan Hinkle, Kaden Hinkle, Isaac Hinkle, Landen Hinkle, Jenna Hinkle and David Hinkle.
Her viewing will be at Mountain View Cemetery on Tuesday, April 2nd from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Her memorial will be on Thursday, April 4th at 1:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery, The Celebration of Life Center, Aspen Chapel. There will be a graveside service after the memorial for close family members. A reception will follow the service as well.
Our mother was the glue that held our family together and she took great pride and joy in all of them! She left a legacy of love that will continue through all the generations to follow.
