Evelyn Ester Mikelson's Obituary
Evelyn Ester Mikelson, 85, passed away on January 19, 2015 in Tacoma, WA. She was born on January 9, 1930 in Winfield, Wisconsin to Rollie and Lilah (Allert) Gardner.
Evelyn worked for many years as a waitress/bartender at the Black Angus Restaurant in downtown Tacoma on the corner of 11th and A Streets. She survived through three business changes at that location, the final one before closing was Phalen’s Port of Call. She then spent the next 20 years at the Executive Inn in Fife and finally retired from the Peking Restaurant in Puyallup, WA where she worked part time until her late 70’s.
Evelyn was a member of the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She loved both the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, bowling, ceramics and all the people she served over the years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons Gary (Cathy) and David (Lesa) Overfield; grandchildren Ryan, Tara, Brian, Ben and Geoff; great-grandsons Ishaan and Hudson; sisters Mary Ellen Baumgarden and Marjorie (Bud) Meyer, and brother Edward Gardner. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Gordon, brothers Robert and Loran.
A private family service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.
