Evelyn L. Henshaw's Obituary
Mrs. Evelyn Henshaw of Gig Harbor, WA passed away September 15, 2003 at University Place Care Center. She was born June 4, 1922 in Thurston, NE. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, IA where she met her future husband, Bob. They married on August 25, 1942 in Tacoma, WA. After the war, in 1946, Ev followed Bob to the Washington, D.C. area. They raised their family in Broyhill Park, Falls Church, VA where Ev lived until relocating to Gig Harbor in 1998. Ev worked and traveled extensively for Western Union during World War II and was a forms analyst for the Army Corps of Engineers in Washington D.C. until 1951.She was an avid bowler, ardent Republican, active in the United Methodist WomenÂ's Organization, and a great fan of the Washington Redskins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob. She is survived by her son, Rob and daughter-in-law, Meri of Centreville, VA; daughter, Julie and son-in-law, Gary, and a terrific grandson, Bill of Gig Harbor, WA; sisters, Issy of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Margie of Palm Desert, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.Her life was immeasurably blessed by her good fried and companion, Kate of Gig Harbor. Her friends, Sue and Marj also provided great friendship to her.The family wishes to thank the caring staff and particularly the wonderful aides at University Place Care Center.Funeral services will be held in Falls Church, Virginia at Graham Road United Methodist Church. Contributions may me made to that church in her memory.
