Evelyn Davis Kittrell
Evelyn Davis Kittrell was born on January 12, 1934 to James and Mattie Davis in Victoria, Virginia, and passed away peacefully October 29, 2011 in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating high school in Victoria, Eve continued her education in accounting and had a successful career as a budget analyst for the U.S. Army at Fort Eustis, Virginia, which is where she met her future husband, Col. (ret) William Kittrell, who preceded her in death in April 2009. They were married for 49 wonderful years, during which time they were stationed in Arizona, Hawaii, and Germany before returning to Fort Lewis and finally settling in Lakewood, Washington. Eve loved being a military wife with all its responsibility. She was a fabulous hostess and avid volunteer in the military community. In addition, she loved being a stay-at-home mom, where she dedicated her time and energy to her children and their many activities. Eve was also a very talented tole painter and ceramic artist, and always won at bridge and Bingo. In 2010 Eve moved to Patriots Landing Retirement Community, where she enjoyed new friendships and all the social gatherings. She is survived by her daughters Susan Gill (Joseph) and Trudy Gage (Charley), stepsons William, Chester (Jennette), and Guy, grandchildren Kevin, Kurtis, Rachel, Kylee, Ryan, Blake and Tara, brother Everette (Betty), sister-in-law Melcena, and many extended family and friends. Memorial service will be held Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 at Patriots Landing, 1:00pm. Burial Friday, November 4th, 10:15am, at Tahoma National Cemetery. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
