Evelyn Hayes' Obituary
Evelyn Hayes 91 of Steilacoom Wa passed away peacefully at home on Jan 30th 2020 with family by her side, Evelyn was born on Nov 4th 1928 in Georgetown SC to the late John and Mattie Evans. Evelyn spent most of her youth in Georgetown, but later moved to Colombia SC to attend school. This is where she met the love of her life Staff Sgt Willam P Hayes, they were married on May 19th 1954 and started traveling with the military around the country and the world. Four children later they decided to settle down and retire in the quaint little town of Steilacoom Wa, where Evelyn was a homemaker and a custodian at Pierce college for 15 years. She retired from Pierce in 1994 to enjoy a life with William and her kids, traveling to different sporting events the kids were involved in attending church religiously and playing pinochle with the "GAS HOUSE GANG" late into the night. Evelyn was a kind, caring and generous woman she would give you the shirt off her back and the last dollar she had if you asked.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Staff Sgt William P Hayes, parents John and Mattie Evans, brothers John Jr and Marion Evans, sisters Bessie, Melvina, Bobbie, Hattie Evans, Mary Martha Smith and Yovonne Banton. She's survived by her brothers Melvin and Jeff Evans, sisters Deloris and Beverly Evans, daughter Frerechi Hayes, son Bruce Hayes, son Cedric Hayes, daughter Atrell House, grand daughter Jessica Blake, grand daughter Jennetta Blake, great grandson Micah Blake, great grandson Manuel Blake and 40 nieces and nephews. Evelyn will been greatly missed by a host of family and friends.
