Evelyn Pat Chase's Obituary
Pat Chase was the matriarch of our large Chase family and life will never be the same without her. She was a loving wife, mother of seven, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother.
Evelyn “Pat” Chase, age 91, of Tacoma, Washington, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 23, 2022. Pat was born on November 1, 1930 in Englewood, New Jersey, to Patrick Franz and Evelyn Louise Todd. She had two siblings, Dorothy and Richard Franz.
Pat was married for 75 years to her loving husband, Allan G. Chase, age 94. Pat was a caring, loving mother to her seven children, Lloyd, Richard, Kenny, David, Emily, Susan and Kathleen. She took great pride in the care of her children and her home. Pat lived in several states (Maryland, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, and New Mexico). After marrying her military husband at 16, she had three military tours abroad, in Panama, Stuttgart and Landstuhl, Germany. She and her family finally settled in Tacoma, Washington. As a spouse of her military husband, Pat always said that she also served her country well.
Pat loved being with her children and family the most in life. She loved her daily walks surrounded by nature and enjoyed talking to others along the way. Pat never met a stranger; she loved people and learning their life stories. She treated people with respect and kindness. She lived her life by example and had a great impact on those she met and loved. Pat enjoyed fashion and looking her best. She loved reading and always had a book in hand. Pat loved her pets and every animal. Pat was a religious person and lived her life guided by her faith in God. Pat grew up in the South during the era of segregation. It had a profound impact on her life, and she always instilled in her children the importance of treating everyone with respect no matter their background. Pat always said laughter is the best medicine and found humor even while facing the trials in life. Her home was very active and always full of laughter with seven children as well as dogs and cats! She held her children close and their bond was made of love, respect and friendship.
Since Pat was 91, she lived through the loss of many friends and family members, the deaths of her parents, both of her siblings and her four sons. The passing of her boys, Lloyd Allan Patrick Chase, Richard George Adrian Chase, Kenneth Lee Chase and David Arthur Chase, broke Pat’s heart. Through all the sorrow and strife, Pat’s love of God and her family helped guide her. She faced life with such grace and strength, and that was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Pat is survived by her husband, Allan G. Chase, daughters, Emily Chase (Carlos) Quintana, Susan (Jon) Grote, Kathleen (Brett) Lucas, her 17 grandchildren, 17+ great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Pat will be laid to rest at a graveside service on September 3, 2022 at 1:00 pm. at the Garden of Remembrance Mausoleum, Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.

Pat loved flowers, but she also loved being out in nature and surrounded by all its beauty. A memorial tree forest and bench will be placed in Pat’s honor at her daughter Emily’s home. The memorial forest will be part of a 10,000 acre Natural Area Preserve.
