Evelyn B. Dryden's Obituary
Evelyn Dryden
Evelyn Dryden was born in 1909 in Lone Pine, Nebraska, and died one week before her 102nd birthday on December 17, 2011 in Tacoma. She and her husband of 61 years, Duane Dryden, moved to north Tacoma in 1941 where they raised two sons. She volunteered for the Tacoma Art Museum and League of Women Voters, and will be remembered for her dedication, actively volunteering into her 90s. Evelyn touched many lives with her dignified good humor; she was an example of how to live a full life, whether it was hiking, entertaining, playing the organ, or golfing. She and Duane had a great circle of friends and were adventurous travelers in their retirement. They visited all fifty states as well as Europe, Central and South America, Hong Kong, Japan, and Thailand. Family was always first with Evelyn. Her love and strong support will be missed by those who survive her, including her brother Sam, brother-in-law Earl Dryden (Sharon), sons Duane II (Linda) and Donald (Susan), grandsons Donald (Debra), Dennis (Jeannine), Phillip (Aimee), and Matthew (Carlene), great-grandchildren Christine, Sam, Kylee, Devin, and Sara, and three great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
