EVELYN JUNE (CARNES) ANGELUS
April 12, 1925 – July 22, 2013
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and wonderful friend to many, passed away at her home surrounded by her familyon Monday, July 22, 2013 at the age of 88.
Evelyn was born in Orting, Washington on April 12, 1925 to Charles and Winnifred (Chesterfied)
Carnes. She attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Gault Jr. Highand Lincoln High School, graduating in 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) Angelus on May 26, 1945, making their home in Tacoma, where they raised their three children. Evelyn was an avid bowler in her early years bowling for sponsors such as Parkland Fuel and “Big 6” Mobil service station. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, reading, listening to Country Music, Sunday afternoon drives and the Puyallup Fair. She especially enjoyed her vacations to Victoria, B.C., Canada that her and her husband Jim took annually for several years.
She was an active member of Central Baptist Church for many years and later attended Life Center Church in Tacoma. Evelyn was an avid supporter of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and always encouraged those she came in contact with to watch his telecasts.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband James (Jim) Angelus in 2012 after celebrating 67 years of marriage together, her parents, CharlesCarnes and Winnifred (Chesterfied) Carnes-Keller, and her sister Betty (Carnes)Morrone.
She is survived by her children; sons, Richard (Marlene) Angelus and Peter (Dyanne) Angelus both of Tacoma and daughter, Shelley (Jerry) Beroth of Gig Harbor, 7 grandchildren , 7 great-grandchildren, sister Yvonne (Ken) Trenberth of Tacoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 30th from 1:00 to 8:30PM at Mountain View Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 12:00 noon in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances in Evelyn’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1313 Broadway, Suite 100, Tacoma, WA 98402, 1-800-227-2345.
The family wishes to thank Dean Stageberg and Dick Wilson – Chaplains at Life Center Church in Tacoma, for their faithful visitations and prayers; Rickie Gomez, her personal caregiver, and the Franciscan Hospice Team, for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Evelyn during her illness. We are forever grateful.
