Evangeline M. Billingsley's Obituary
Evangeline Marie Billingsley, known as "Vangie" to family and friends and loved by many. Passed away on June 10, 2015 at the age of 87. Born April 3,1928 in Binford, North Dakota, she was the youngest of 7 daughters born to Rev. & Mrs. MB Ordahl.
Vangie received her Early Education degree from PLU and taught in the University Place School District for over 30 years. Vangie and her husband Chuck of 44 years introduced their 3 children to the great outdoors, filling weekends and vacations with camping, hiking, fishing, rock hounding and panning for gold. Her passion for singing with her sisters led to the development of the Nordic Trio with sisters Florence and Dagny. She was also a member of the Joyful Voices Choir at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of which she was a faithful member for 58 years; 30 of those years she dedicated her leadership to the production and distribution of 'personal care kits' and quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
Vangie is preceded in death by husband Charles and son Kash Mathew. She is survived by sister Florence March; daughters Barbara Billingsley, Margaux Serock (husband Ed); grandchildren Kash Serock, Erika Lowery (husband Jason) and Adam Serock (wife Stacy); Great-grandchildren Emma and Jake Lowery, Dalton, Emmy Lynn and Dawson Serock.
A memorial service for Vangie will be on Sunday, July 12th, at 2:00pm. At St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 6730 N 17th St, Tacoma, WA.
