I met Evan back in 2007 while in attendance at NMMI. Evan and I began our army careers together starting out as cadets fighting for commissions in the United States Army. He was a good friend and battle buddy, far better than I deserved. We looked out for each other and helped one another through hard times. He used to call me "Chappy" due to a desire at one point to be an Army chaplain, but I found a different path and became an Engineer. It's been years since we've seen each other and recently we found ourselves less than 30 miles apart. I wish our schedules would have lined up, feels like I failed as a friend. We alway stayed in touch but I never managed to see each other again, face to face. Those reading this, know you are not alone. You are not mourning alone. Tothe family, friends, and loved ones, you have my deepest condolences. I will never forget Evan's dedication, determination, selflessness, or kindness. This world is now a lesser place with one less good man to defend it. Rest in peace "battle" we'll continue the fight from here.
It was a great honor servicing with you my friend!!!
A wonderful honorable gentleman was taken way too soon, I am truly sorry for your loss. I am still in shock of the news.
