Evalyne Amelia Rohde's Obituary
Evalyne Amelia Rohde Williams passed away on February 8, 2006 at Park Rose Care Center in Tacoma, WA from complications from congenital heart failure. Evalyne was born on October 28, 1918 in Marshalltown, IA. She was the first sibling of Fred H. and Emma (Rubenbauer) Rohde. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1936 she was employed in the law offices of John Mowry in Marshalltown. She later was the bookkeeper/office manager at the Iowa Soldiers Home in Marshalltown for 17 years. She moved to Tacoma, WA to be with her sister, Eleanor and was employed by the Weyerhaeuser Co. in Tacoma and then employed by Mayer Built Homes until her retirement after 21 years. She married Kenneth C. Williams of Tacoma, WA on December 6, 1961 and they lived in Tacoma and Lakewood. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer financial secretary for many years. Evalyne was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents, her sister Eleanor, her brother Leroy, and two nieces. She is survived by her step-daughter Jean Massei (Sandy) of Lakewood, WA, her brother Fred J. (Lois) Rohde of Alexandria, MN, a sister Velma Gunderson (Robert) of Marshalltown, IA, a sister-in-law Ronda Rohde (Leroy) of Marshalltown, IA a sister Arlene Ford (Delmar) of Brooklyn, IA and four nieces and nine nephews. Memorial services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tacoma, WA. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, Lakewood, WA. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 6202 S. Tyler, Tacoma, WA, 98409.
