Eugene Sullivan's Obituary
[Eugene Alvin Sullivan lovingly known as “Gene” departed this life suddenly on Friday, January 16, 2026 at his residence in Tacoma, WA. Born on March 12, 1940 to Lawrence and Maggie L. Sullivan in Carneghan, GA, Gene was the fourth of seven children. From an early age, he accepted the Lord and built his faith at the Carneghan Emanuel Baptist Church, later becoming affiliated with Life Center in Tacoma.
After graduating from Todd Grant High School in Darien, GA in 1958, Gene went on to proudly serve in the United States Army for 10 years, completing his military career as a Staff Sergeant. His service reflected the same dedication, discipline, and quiet strength that marked his life. Gene worked in various industries and retried from the Olin Corporation after many dedicated years of service.
Family meant everything to Gene. He stayed in close touch with loved ones and friends across the country, often reaching out just to check in. After his passing, many shared the same words with disbelief and tenderness: “I recently spoke to him.” Gene especially cherished time spent with his nephew George and his family, particularly during the holidays. Gene was deeply loved by all of his nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
In his quieter moments, Gene found joy in simple pleasures. One of his favorite pastimes was a good game of bingo — never rushed, always enjoyed.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Leroy, Sr., Lawrence, Jr., Joseph, Melvin and Johnny; and his beloved son, Patrick.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister Shirley S. Everson Meridian, GA; Sister-in-law, Marie Sullivan, Crescent, GA; devoted nieces Patricia (Randolph)Wynn, Brunswick, GA; Doris Deas, Darien, GA; Cheryl Sullivan, Savannah, GA; Theresa (John) Young, Riceboro, GA; Phyllis McIver, Crescent, GA; Caroline Everson, Meridian, GA; Ethel Sullivan, Crescent, GA and Calandra (Jessie) Lenyoa, Jacksonville, FL; beloved nephews Anthony Sullivan, Hawthorne, CA; Leroy (Angela) Sullivan, Jr., Indianapolis, IN; Darryl Sullivan, Savannah, GA; George (Yukari) Everson, Jr., Bremerton, WA; Maurice Sullivan, Tampa, FL; Javon Sullivan, Savannah, GA; and a host of sorrowing relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
