Eugene D. Davies' Obituary
Eugene D. Davies a longtime Tacoma resident passed away at home on December 14, 2015. He was born on April 2, 1926 in Tacoma to William and Melva Davies. Beloved husband of the late Anna Mae and dear father of Linda (Buzz) Dailey, Debra (Mike) Zimmerman, Thomas Davies, and Jill (Rod) Weast. Loving grandfather of Sheri (John) DeVore, Deanne (Jake) Lawrence, Michelle (Andy) Bailey, Laura Zimmerman, Scott (Blair) Zimmerman, Gregg Zimmerman, Brad (Jessica) Davies, Tina Davies, Jennifer Weast and Renae Weast. Cherished great-grandfather of Katie DeVore, Nathan DeVore, Gabe Lawrence, Ethan Lawrence, Bryce Bailey, Robby Bailey, Tanner Bailey, McKensie Zimmerman, Brianna Davies, Matthew Davies, Katelyn Davies and Hannah Davies. Brother of the late Harold (aka Mike) Davies and Ada Caton. A special friendship was formed with Wanda Bounds while attending a grievance support group at Mountain View Funeral Home and continued until the day of his passing.
Gene was a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School in Tacoma and continued his education through the International Correspondence School. He was a World War II veteran where he served stateside. He worked for the E. I. DuPont Company for over 30 years in Washington and Illinois and retired in 1984. While in Illinois, he opened his heart to Jesus and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. Upon returning to Tacoma, Gene and Anna became faithful active members of Elim Evangelical Free Church (EFC) in Puyallup. Gene’s retirement years were filled with hours volunteering to help maintain the V.A. golf course, filling the role of property manager at Elim EFC, creating woodworking projects with his brother, traveling with Anna, and spending quality time with his family.
Memorial services for Gene will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday December 27, 2015 at Elim Evangelical Free Church, 9421 128th St. E. Puyallup WA 98373. A reception will follow at the church. Family and friends kindly invited.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gene’s memory to Elim EFC.
