Eugene Blake Jr.'s Obituary
Eugene Blake Jr., 67, of Lynnwood, WA, passed away on December 18, 2023. He was born on August 22, 1956, in Columbus, GA, to his parents, Dorothy and Eugene Blake, Sr.
Eugene attended Lakes High School and furthered his education at Washington State University. While attending Lakes High School, Eugene set numerous track and field records. Eugene proudly served in the U.S. Army and later in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He valued knowledge and was always eager to learn and grow. He continued his career in the government, aerospace, and technology sectors after serving his country.
Eugene was predeceased by his father, Eugene Blake, Sr., and sister, Rita (Napoleon) Lovett. Survivors include his eldest daughter Porsche Blake, son Aliyahu (Melkahyah) Yashar'El (formally known as Eugene Blake, III), and his youngest daughter Kimberly Douglas, from his first marriage to Marsha Yvonne Watkins, eight grandchildren, mother Dorothy (Eugene) Blake, and siblings Patricia (Kenneth) Juhl, Sheryl (James) Bevineau, Michael (Debra) Blake, Barbara Blake, and Maria (Joseph) Kane.
The funeral arrangements for Eugene are being handled by Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA. The funeral home will assist the family during this difficult time and ensure that Eugene's final wishes are honored.
In addition to his military service and educational achievements, Eugene had a deep love for his family and friends. He lived a life devoted to seeking God's face and was steadfast in his commitment to living a Christ-centered life. He will be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature. Eugene's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Eugene's final resting place will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA, where his military honors and inurnment will take place on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Eugene's family is planning a celebration of life service for him and will announce the details soon.
