They fell in love and were married at St. Leos Catholic Church on September 8, 1956. Ethel was employed by Tacoma Day Nursery as secretary/bookkeeper from 1953 until her retirement in 1995. She continued her service to Tacoma Day Nursery by serving on the Board of Directors until April 2008. Ethel enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved any excuse to orchestrate gatherings. She enjoyed her church activities which developed into many wonderful friendships. Ethel was an avid Mariners fan. She was a dependable cheerleader for her grandchildren's sports and their education. Ethel cherished all of her "extended family" and her grandchildren and great granddaughter held a special place in her heart. Ethel, with her loving and caring ways and her welcoming smile, treated strangers with a loving and gracious manner as she always did with her own family. Just talking to her made others feel good and she brought out the best in everyone. Ethel will be remembered for her generous heart and excellent memory. She was the family historian and was frequently called upon to clarify dates and events. Ethel leaves behind a legacy of memories and she will be deeply missed. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Frank Senecal for his most compassionate care, Deb Morris, ARNP, the Franciscan Hospice staff, Carol, Mandy Karin and Aaron and her entire medical team who took such good care of her over the past four years. We extend a special thank you to Carolyn Brown, an angel in our midst.
