Ethel Mae Hanson's Obituary
Our Beloved Ethel Mae Hanson passed away peacefully on November 28th 2013 in the comfort of her family’s presence. She was surrounded intermittently at her bedside for 8 days prior to her passing by all of her family- husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who, in their own time, were able to tell her how much they love her and recall memories of special times spent with her.
Ethel was born in Seattle, Washington on June 11, 1928. She later moved to Tacoma where she met Roy in 1948, and Roy and Ethel married on April 28, 1949. Ethel and Roy had 3 children, Gary, Toni and Kay. They have 4 grandchildren, Travis, Teresa, Kelsey and Kyle and 2 great-grandchildren, Cole and Taylor, with a new great-grandson to be born in January 2014 who will be named Gavin Roy Hudson.
Ethel loved her family with all of her heart. At every opportunity she and Roy took their children and grandchildren boating, camping, water and snow skiing, and on trips in their RV for outdoor adventures. She and Roy attended all of the grandchildren’s sports and activities, and special events. Ethel enjoyed reading to and with her grandchildren and teaching them to cook.
Ethel and Roy were also very active in boating activities as members of the Tacoma Outboard Association, and with friends of their RV club Overlanders. They were also very active in their church St. Charles Borromeo. They have many cherished friends with whom they shared an active lifestyle for many decades. Ethel and Roy also volunteered throughout the years for many causes that were important to them.
“They whom we love and lost are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are.” St. John Chrystostom
Funeral Services were held at the Mountain View Funeral Home, Celebration of Life Center, on Friday, December 6, 2013, at 1:00PM
