Ethel Julia Haggstrom's Obituary
Ethel passed away peacefully at age 103 on August 11, 2016 at University Place Care Center.
She was born September 6, 1912 in Tacoma, Washington. Her parents were Olga (Benum) Larson from Norway and Emil Larson from Sweden. She graduated from Tacoma’s Lincoln High School in 1931 and married Carl Birger Haggstrom from Sweden on July 5, 1931 in Port Orchard, Washington. Carl Haggstrom passed away on November 28, 1965. Ethel worked for several years as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Dr. Fewell, a children’s dentist.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her infant daughter Hilma Haggstrom, her sister Violet Haggstrom, brother Ernest Larson and great-grandson Tyler Sybertz, niece Bernie Woodward.
She is survived by her sons Carl Haggstrom (Linda), Roy Haggstrom (Rita) and daughter Ruby Davis-Reed (Tony Reed), her brother Arne Larson (Dixie), grandchildren Thomas Haggstrom (Cari), Carl Haggstrom Jr (called Andy), Kenneth Haggstrom (Toni), Casey Haggstrom, Scott Davis (Donna) and Jason Davis. Ethel had 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great, great-grandchildren, nephews, Ron Haggstrom, Michael Larson (Barbara), Douglas Larson (Sue), Christopher Larson. She was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a 75 year member of VASA Norden Lodge 233. VASA is a Swedish-American fraternal organization.
