Ethel M Ayers' Obituary
Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ethel M. Ayers, 97, passed away on December 20, 2017. Ethel was born in Pasadena, California on August 26, 1920, to George and Ethel Ruppert. She attended schools in Pasadena and Salem Oregon, graduating from Salem High School. Ethel married Floyd (Willard) Ayers in 1938. Willard passed away in 1972. In 2009, Ethel and Clifton (Cliff) Eikum became life partners. Cliff passed away in 2011. Ethel lived in the Tacoma area most of her life where she and Willard raised three daughters. She worked over 20 years as a clerk-typist at McChord Air Force Base. Ethel was a past member of the Midland Elementary School PTA, the Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Community Club. She was also a member of the Lincoln Park Christian Church and Faith Chapter/Eastern Star. She and Willard were members of the Mt. Tahoma Dance Club. Ethel is survived by daughters, Nina (John) Troutner, Donna (Don) Clift, and JoAnn (Emmott) Fisher. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Karen (Bob) Bright, David (Susie) Troutner, Shelly Clift, Bryan (Carole) Clift, Mark (Michelle) Van Antwerp, Alan (Gabriela) Van Antwerp, Janine (Craig) Reesor, and John (Cheryl) Marshall, eleven great grandchildren, Eikum children (Dan, Diane, Doug, Debbie, David) and their families and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children/Spokane, WA., Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA., Hospice of Pierce County, WA. or charity of choice. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2018. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
