Esther Mary Rasmussen's Obituary
Esther (Peck) Rasmussen was born October 2, 1915 in Danville, MN. She moved with her parents, William and Lena Peck, her brothers, Leslie, Raymond and Paul, and sisters, Verna and Ruth, to Snohomish, WA. While in Snohomish two more brothers, Fred and Gene, were born and her brother Raymond and her father died. Lena Peck moved the remaining family to Tacoma where they all lived, married and raised families. Esther went to work in a lingerie factory at the age of 14 to help support her family. Throughout her life she worked as a skilled seamstress cutting and sewing for upholsters by day and making custom draperies and amazing clothing at night.
Esther married Albert Rasmussen and had two children, Donald and Sandra. Albert died in 1965 and Donald passed away on April 13, 2005. Esther enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, and traveling. She sailed on numerous cruises, flew around the country in a friend’s private plane, and even went to Russia in the 80’s.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Sandra Burroughs, granddaughters, Lisa Huber and Barb Burroughs, three great grandsons, Donny and Danny Huber and Simon Skonieczny, her sister, Ruth Darland, and several nieces and nephews.
Esther passed peacefully in her sleep on June 5, 2014.
