Esther Pauline Armfield's Obituary
Esther Pauline Armfield Parkinson, born March 31, 1907 in Spokane, Washington, passed away July 25, 2003 at Mt. Vernon Nursing Center in Alexandria, Virginia. Esther was one of 10 children born to Reverend William E. Armfield and Ella M. Shore Armfield. During her childhood she was involved in church activities, studying piano, voice and her first love, ballet. She danced at many regional events during her teenage years. Esther was a resident of the Lakewood/Tacoma area from 1947 until January 1986. Esther was involved in many Masonic affiliated organizations. She is a Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a Past President of Social Order of Beauceant and Past Queen of the White Shrine. She was also a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine and the Daughters of the Nile. As a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, she participated in their precision marching drill team. This drill team participated in competitions locally and nationally in Washington D.C., New York, NY and Honolulu, HI.She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.When EstherÂ's husband, Claude M. Parkinson, passed away, she moved to Alexandria, VA in January 1986 to live with her daughter, Judithanne Hare where she became a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Having been active all of her life, she immediately became involved in senior citizen activities at three centers in Fairfax County, VA.Esther is survived by her daughter, Helene E. Richter and her son, William C. Parkinson, both of Arizona; and her daughter, Judithanne P. Hare of Alexandria, VA. Esther is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.Donations may be made to the ShrinerÂ's Crippled ChildrenÂ's Hospitals, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Pk. Rd., Portland, OR 97201.Visitation will begin at 1 P.M. with services following at 2 P.M., Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Interment at Mt. View Memorial Park.
