Esther M. Brodbeck's Obituary
Esther M. Brodbeck was born on July 8, 1913 in Tacoma, WA to Henry and Ella Erdahl, and passed away on November 6, 2004 in Tacoma, WA. Esther was the last surviving child of 9 brothers and sisters. She was married for many years to William Schmidt, a teacher at Clover Park H.S. until his passing. Esther later married Fred Brodbeck, whom also preceded her in death. She is survived by numerous family and friends.Esther attended nursing school outside of the state, and was recruited by the Army to serve in WWII, where she was stationed in New Guinea. After the war, she was discharged as a captain and became a nurse anesthetist at DoctorÂ's Hospital in Tacoma. During the time she and Bill were married, Esther also lived in Holland for a year while Bill taught on sabbatical. Esther loved to travel at home and abroad. She was also active in a gourmet cooking group.Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 13, 2004 in the Mt.
