Estelle Joanne Pegg's Obituary
Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Estelle Pegg, passed away peacefully in Tacoma on April 10, 2006, at the age of 81. She was born on October 29, 1924 in Portland, Oregon to Vincent and Rose Lattanzi, immigrants from Italy. She attended Commerce High School (now Cleveland) and then worked in the shipyards during World War II. After the war, she met her first husband, Robert Marcy, whom she married in 1945. They moved to California to pursue work and sunshine. After four years of marriage and 2 children, Marilyn and Robert, Estelle divorced her first husband and moved back to Portland Oregon. She met the true love of her life, Rex Pegg, whom she married on December 21, 1951. Rex adopted EstelleÂ's children and together they settled in Portland where they started a wholesale automobile upholstery fabric business in the basement of their home, in 1959. Two years later, in 1961, they moved to Tacoma to expand their business and raise their family. Furniture fabrics and a retail operation were added to the business about 10 years later. Estelle was the firmÂ's bookkeeper and full partner to Rex (who preceded her in death in 1990), in this endeavor. After the business was sold in 1980, Estelle retired to spend time with her family and friends, whom she dearly loved and was dearly loved by, in return. Estelle had a deep passion for everyone and was always there to listen and lend a helping hand. Her sense of humor was unparalleled as was her love for small furry critters both real and stuffed with cotton. Her many hobbies and talents included painting, playing the piano, gardening, reading and the occasional game of golf.Surviving are her daughter Marilyn Foley and husband Michael, son Robert Pegg, grandson Sean Foley, all of Tacoma, Washington, brother Charles Lattanzi and wife Jeanette of Milwaukie, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM April 18tth, in the Chapel, at St. Charles Borromeo Parish.Isaiah 40:31 Â"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.Â"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to the following organizations that Estelle respected for the work that they do in our community: The Tacoma Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army and the Franciscan Hospice House for the wonderful care they took of our loved one in her preparation for this final journey. EstelleÂ's family wishes to acknowledge the love and care provided by the staff of the Weatherly Inn, during these last three and one-half years. Without their love, friendship and devotion to Estelle, her life would not have been as rich.
