Esmeralda Mancilla's Obituary
Esmeralda Mancilla, 77, also known as "Esmie" and "Imelda" passed away on October 8, 2023 in Tacoma, Washington, with family by her side. Esmeralda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Esmeralda was born in Rosario, Cavite, Philippines. She graduated from San Sebastian University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She also completed certifications in Seamstress and Hairdressing. She married Cesar Mancilla, and in 1980 the family immigrated to the United States. Cesar and Esmeralda were married 50 years prior to her passing. Together they maintained their residence in Lakewood, WA.
Esmeralda was an incredible and ambitious woman who balanced a career and family life with Cesar, and their four daughters. Esmeralda was an excellent cook and baker. She became a small business owner when she successfully made her dream of owning a Filipino restaurant a reality. Prior to opening a restaurant she retired from Brown & Haley. Esmeralda had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to their many plants and fruit trees. She maintained lifelong friendships through her membership in the Salinians of Washington State.
Esmeralda was preceded in death by her parents, Marcelo Sr. and Carmen; and siblings Eufrocina, Moises, Samuel, Corazon, and Benjamin. She is survived by her loving husband, four daughters, nine grandchildren, and three siblings.
